About

Growing up with a father who was an avid photographer, a camera was never too far from my hand. Phases of enthusiasm came and went through the years—medium format, darkroom, the advent of autofocus, etc.

But it was about ten years ago, when my daughter began playing competitive soccer, that I picked up my first DSLR. After serving as the unofficial team photographer for a couple years, I thought, “I have a camera and a telephoto lens. I could take pictures of birds.”

One trip to the local lagoon later, I was caught in a (some would say downward) spiral into a passion for photographing birds, wildlife and our natural world that has taken me from Alaska to Tanzania to Australia and points in between.

Aside from taking compelling photos, my hope is to inspire people with the beauty that still remains in our world, whether in the park down the street or on the other side of the planet. Human nature is to not be concerned about the things we don’t know. Photography is a way to connect people to nature and inspire an interest in preserving our environment.
